THE CHEESE DRAWER · DRAWER POST #1 · Oct 30, 2026
Reviews are a one-app country
One app holds 10.7% of all the reviews across the 757 rated Shopify apps we track. The rat did the math.
What we found
Add up every review on every rated app we track and you get 462,614. Judge.me alone has 49,371 of them. That is 10.7% of the whole pile, from one listing.
Zoom into its home turf and it gets sillier. The 15 rated Product reviews apps we track have 69,201 reviews between them. Judge.me holds 71.3%. The runner-up, Loox, has 10,003. Second place is a very respectable app that is still about 4.9 times smaller.
Why it matters
- Merchants: a review app collects reviews, and it turns out review apps are great at collecting their own too. When one app is this far ahead, the real question is not "who is best" but "do I need anything the leader doesn't do."
- App devs: entering Product reviews means taking on a 49,371-review incumbent. Pick a niche instead of going head-on.
- Agencies: the default is the default for a reason. Check the App Card before you recommend a swap.
Rat take
Opinion, ours: this is not a category, it is a kingdom with a few loyal provinces. Respect the crown, and read the 1-star reviews anyway (Judge.me has 154 of them).
